About GITAM:

Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM), a deemed to be university u/s 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, known as GITAM University is a premier educational institution in the country having 35 years of track record in teaching and research of global standards. The University is located in three picturesque campuses at Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Bangalore. With a multi disciplinary approach, the University offers 118 programmes at UG, PG and Doctoral levels in Technology, Science, Pharmacy, Management, International Business, Architecture and Law.

GAT Online Tests: GITAM Admission Test (GAT) is a computer based online test conducted for admission to UG & PG Technology & Pharmacy Programs in GITAM University at its Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Bengaluru Campuses.

Gitam Admission Test (GAT) – 2017 examination has been notification by GITAM University.this Exam fully computer based online test for admission to Engineering, Architecture and Pharmacy programs for the year 2017- 2018. Candidates who are eligible for this entrance exam they can apply online through the official website and offline Application form will be available throughout India at taken from the selected branches of Indian Bank, Union Bank of India and Karur Vysya Bank. Candidates now open Gitam Admission Test for various courses.

Merit List for Admissions:
i) The merit position of the candidate for admission will be based on the score obtained in the GAT – 2017
subject to the rule of reservation as per UGC guidelines / norms as applicable to the university.
A candidate qualified in GAT – 2017 will be eligible for admission only if he/she fulfills the requirement of
minimum marks in the qualifying examination as per the eligibility criteria.
ii) 25% of seats are reserved for meritorious students from Karnataka State for admission
at Bengaluru Campus.
8. Direct Admission to Board Toppers
First rank holders of the central and all state board examinations – 2017, equivalent to 10+2 will be given
admission to the program of their choice, without appearing for the GAT examination subject to their
fulfilling the prescribed eligibility criteria mentioned above. However they have to submit an application
seeking admission to engineering and pharmacy programmes in the university.
9. Special Provision for Female Candidates
GAT-2017 registration fee for female candidates is ` 600/- only. Further, the university will try its best to
accommodate all female candidates at the test centre of their first preference.

Financial Assistance:
The University offers financial assistance to the deserving meritorious candidates as detailed below:
i) Merit Scholarships will be offered by way of tuition fee waiver for top 100 rankers of GAT (UGTP)- 2017.

The continuation of these scholarships for the subsequent years will depend upon the student’s academic
performance.
ii) Merit–cum-Means Scholarships will be awarded to 5% of students in each department of the academic
institutes of the University @ ` 2,000/- per month depending upon merit of the student and income of
the parent.
iii) Merit scholarships will be provided to the candidates admitted in M.Tech. and M.Pharm programmes.
iv) Teaching Assistantships will be offered to meritorious students of M.Tech. & M.Pharm depending upon
the need and availability of suitable candidates, subject to a maximum of three students in each
programme @ ` 5,000/- per month.

About GAT – 2017
i) Candidates should arrive at the test centre one hour before the scheduled time. There will be an on-site
orientation before the test commences. If a candidate arrives after the on- site orientation begins,
he/she will not be allowed to take the test. If candidates do not report on time, they are likely to miss
some of the general instructions relating to the test. The test hall will be opened 30 minutes before the
commencement of the test.
ii) The candidate is expected to have basic familiarity with use of computer like use of keyboard and
mouse operation. It is the responsibility of the candidate to acquire these skills before appearing for
the test and the university cannot take any responsibility in this matter.
iii) The questions are generated from a large question bank and all the candidates will get different question
sets. An expert committee will ensure that the question sets are of equal standard level, content,
question type, etc. In this matter, the decision of the university is final and binding on the candidate.
iv) The candidate must ensure that the computer allotted to him/her is switched on and any problem with
the computer is to be intimated to the Proctor immediately. All the questions will be in
English medium only. All the questions will be of multiple choice.
v) Each question carries 4 marks. Each correct answer will be awarded 4 marks and 1 mark will be
deducted from the score for each wrong answer. The unanswered questions will receive nil marks.
vi) On completion of the test, the computer will display the result in terms of number of total correct
answers and wrong answers and the net score.
vii) No student will be allowed to repeat the test in the same year.
viii) The method adopted for resolving ties shall be in the order of scores in mathematics / biology, physics,
chemistry and age of the candidate.
ix) The ranks secured by the candidates will be announced within 10 days from the date of completion of
GAT – 2017.

Important points to note :
i. HALL TICKETS will not be sent by post.
ii. The University is not responsible for delay in receipt or loss of Application.
iii. In all matters in the conduct of GAT – 2017, the decision of the Vice-Chancellor will be final.
All disputes pertaining to GAT – 2017 shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Visakhapatnam.
iv. Every effort has been made by GITAM University to ensure the correctness of the information provided
in this document. However, in case of a conflict in interpretation, the decision of the Vice-Chancellor is
final and binding on those who apply for GAT – 2017.

 

Eligible Criteria:
Pass in Intermediate or 12th examination from a recognized Central / State Board or its equivalent either in 2017 or 2016 and also Rank obtained in GAT (UGTP) – 2017, subject to the following criteria:

B.Tech. Programs:
A minimum of 60% aggregate marks in Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry and First Class or equivalent grade in the qualifying examination.

B.Tech. in Biotechnology:
A minimum of 60% aggregate marks in Mathematics/ Biology, Physics & Chemistry and First Class or equivalent grade in the qualifying examination.

B.Pharmacy:
A minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination with Mathematics/ Biology, Physics & Chemistry subjects.
B.Arch:
A minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying Examination  with Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry subjects and also shall qualify in NATA / JEE (Main).

Candidates must have pass in Intermediate or 10+2 examination with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks (50% aggregate marks for B.Arch/B.Pharm.) in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and first class from a recognized Central/State Board either in 2016 or 2015 and rank in GAT-2016.

Note: Candidates with Mathematics/Biology, Physics and Chemistry subjects are eligible for B.Tech, Biotechnology and B.Pharmacy. Candidate should be more details from the Official Website.

How to Apply:

Candidates can apply online at through the official website and offline Application form will be available throughout India at taken from the selected branches of Indian Bank, Union Bank of India and Karur Vysya Bank.

Filled in Application form along with a DD for Rs. 1000/- (Rs 600for the female candidates).drown in favour of GITAM University, payable at Visakhapatnam on any scheduled Bank.

Details of Admission Test GAT (UGTP) – 2017:
The duration of the test is 2 hours. The test consists of three sections and all questions are objective type
(multiple choice questions). Each question has four options out of which one is correct. Each correct answer will be
awarded 4 marks and 1 mark will be deducted from the score for each wrong answer. The unanswered questions will
receive nil marks.
