In this regard, the President of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has published a notification on their official website. The PDF file of the said notification is given below this web page.
Important Information:
HS Examinees have the opportunity to Re-examine the Failed Subjects. Candidates should be surrendering their results of Higher Secondary Examination, 2024. and appear the Higher Secondary Examination, 2025.
If a higher secondary examinee fails in any of the three main subjects except Bengali and English and passes in the optional subject, his optional subject becomes the main subject and the main subject becomes optional. Thus, in West Bengal for a long time, the candidates got the opportunity to pass in higher secondary. As a result of such a pass, the candidates have no chance to retake the exam in the subject in which they failed.
The Hon’ble President of the West Bengal Higher Secondary Education Council said that even after passing the optional subject from this year, even if a candidate wants to not take this advantage, in that case the candidate must submit their marksheet within a specified day. And the failed main subjects have to fill up the next year’s form.
He also said that if the candidate feels that he will retake the exam in all subjects, he also has a chance. Candidates must submit their marksheets by 31st July to retake all subjects.
The president of the board said that in this case, the students can get the opportunity to study the subjects of their choice in various branches at the graduate level. He gives an example – a candidate wants to study physics at graduate level but for some reason he fails in one of the core subjects in higher secondary but passes the optional subject and it becomes his main subject. And he will pass higher secondary, but he will not have chance to study physics in future. As an optional subject he passed in that subject as he had other subjects but failed in Physics.
Moreover, it can be a great opportunity for those who are thinking of studying medical or engineering after passing higher secondary. The examinee failed in the subject even though he had biology as his main subject. But he cannot study medicine in case he passed due to optional subjects. This opportunity is being given to higher secondary examinees to remove this difficulty in the coming days. So, candidates collect the important official notification for the opportunity to Re-examine the Failed Subjects from this page below.
