According to their recommendations, the expert committee has proposed to cancel the secondary education and Higher Secondary examination in West Bengal for this session.
Earlier, the West Bengal Chief Minister had announced to conduct annual examinations for Class X and XII but canceled it due to the effects of the highly contagious corona virus, forming an expert committee and seeking a report on the subject. At present, most of the boards across the country have announced the cancellation of the annual examinations of Class X and XII due to the coronavirus virus.

The recommendation committee, which was constituted on the subject of secondary and higher secondary examinations in West Bengal, submitted a recommendation to the school education department on Friday, subject to their investigation.

According to the expert committee, in the case of higher secondary candidates, assessment can be done through home assignment”. At the same time 30 marks in Laboratory based subjects and the marks obtained by the students in this number of non-lab subjects will be added to that assignment.
According to the report of the expert committee, in case of secondary examination, the candidates may be given the average number of the ninth class annual or the first summative half-yearly and annual examination number. In addition, the expert committee has proposed to give importance to the number 10 of the secondary ‘interim preparatory assessment’.

According to the Department of Education, the report of the experts has said that it is not possible for the students to go to the school and take the test in Corona at this time. This is because the third wave of the highly contagious corona virus infection could spread even more alarmingly across the country as well as in West Bengal, according to the expert committee. In that sense, it is not possible to give secondary and higher secondary examinations to the students.

The expert committee further said that the CBSE has already canceled the Class XII examination and all the examinations of the ISC board due to the excess of corona virus infection. And the boards of education of different states have canceled all the examinations of class X and XII. According to the expert committee, the number of candidates is around 21 lakh and the number of students above 18 years of age is very low. They think it is unrealistic to ask them to come to school and take the test without the vaccine. In that case, the expert committee has expressed its opinion that it is not possible for the students to appear for the exams in person.

This time the West Bengal government will take all the decisions and it will be released officially soon. Students will be waiting for announcing and follow the official website of WBBSE and WBCHSE.
