IGNOU Online Admission into Distance Education Programmes for M.Phil / Ph.D Courses.
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has been published a notification for admission into Distance Education Programmes for M.Phil / Ph.D Courses in various subjects for the academic session 2017. Candidates who are eligible for admission above courses can apply and look all information i.e., application form, exam date,eligible criteria,Application Procedure,etc.
Notice for Re-holding of Research Programme.
The candidates who have applied for M.Phil./Ph.D. Programmes for various disciplines of the University (excluding Hindi, English, Economics, Sociology and Translation Studies) for the Entrance Test held on December 4, 2016 and are willing to re-appear for entrance examination in Hindi Medium are hereby informed that they may submit their following details as mentioned in their applications forms.
The above information may be submitted online latest by 26 Dec 2016 by 1:00 PM. The details not submitted online by said date will not be entertained under any circumstances.
Important Note:
- In case you opt to reappear in the entrance test in Hindi Medium your earlier answer script will stand cancelled.
- Question paper will be provided only in Hindi medium.
- Hall tickets can be downloaded from IGNOU Website tentatively after 07 Jan 2017.
- Tentative date for conducting Re-entrance examination for M.Phil./Ph.D. Programme: 15 Jan 2017.

Admit Card
Admit card of IGNOU Entrance Test for M.Phil/Ph.D. has been released by the Indira Gandhi National Open University. Candidates may note the exam center and test timings from hall ticket. Request for center change will not be entertained.

All the candidates who applied for admission to M.Phil./Ph.D. Programmes in the various disciplines are hereby informed that the candidates who have qualified NET in the result declared by UGC on 21 Nov 2016 are also exempted from the entrance test to be held on 04 Dec 2016. Such candidates may send their name, control number and discipline name to the research unit at [email protected] latest by 02 Dec 2016.

Application procedure:

- Complete Registration process (which creates ‘User Name’ and ‘Password’ for you)
- Your ‘User Name’ and ‘Password’ is informed through SMS and email
- Re-login to the system using your ‘User Name’ and ‘Password’
- Fill the Application Form online
- Upload your recent Photograph (maximum size 100KB in JPG format)
- Upload your specimen signature (maximum size 50KB in JPG format)
- Read the declaration and check the ‘Declaration’ box
- Preview your data and confirm details
- Pay the Application Fee of Rs. 1000/- (Non-Refundable) through Credit/Debit card/Net Banking
- Payment confirmation message would be sent to you through SMS and email
- Press the Next button to see the form preview
- Take Print/Save your filled in Application Form
Eligibility Criteria:
A candidate is eligible for Admission for the M.Phil./Ph.D. programme provided he/she has qualified :
For M.Phil.:
- Master’s Degree of any recognized University/other qualifications recognized as equivalent thereto in such fields of study as are notified for the purpose from time to time by the University. The minimum eligibility criteria is 55% marks at Post Graduation level [50% in case of reserved categories {SC, ST, OBC (NonCreamy) and PWD}],

For Ph.D.:
- Master’s Degree and/or M.Phil. in the relevant discipline along with the qualifications mentioned in point 1 above.

However, candidates holding M.Phil. degree (along with course work and dissertation both) or those candidates who have cleared NET (conducted by UGC/CSIR/ICAR) or any other equivalent examination will be exempted from appearing in the Entrance Test.
Those who have not cleared NET/any other equivalent examination or not holding M.Phil. Degree will be required to appear for the entrance test.
Selection Procedure
Stage 1 : Entrance Test
- The Entrance Test will be conducted by the University on 4th of Dec 2016 (Sunday) at National Level.
- The list of candidates who will be required to appear for the Entrance Test will be displayed on the website.
- Hall Tickets enabling the candidates to take the Entrance Test will also be displayed on our website. You have to download and print the same to appear in the Entrance Test.
- Please bring along with you an original identity proof which has your photograph, such as Aadhar Card, Voter ID Card, Driving License, Passport and ID Card issued by Govt. Agencies.
Stage 2: Interview/ Presentation
- Candidates who will be successful in the Entrance Test will be called for interview/presentation of Synopsis before the Discipline Doctoral Committee.
- Those candidates exempted from appearing in the Entrance Test will also be called for interview/presentation of Synopsis before the Discipline Doctoral Committee.
- Offer letters for admission will be sent to the Selected Candidates only.

Question. If the power/internet connection fails during the application process, what should I do?
Answer. Since the data is saved at the end of every stage with the ‘Save’ button, your data is automatically saved till the previous stage. If you are at a particular stage and the system is interrupted due to power failure or loss of connectivity, then your current stage data will not be saved. Please log in again using your ID and password and complete the form submission process from the stage where the system got interrupted.
