Admission to Medical Post Graduate and Diploma Courses 2017-2018 in St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore.

Candidates having qualified for the M.B.B.S Degree from any University recognized by the Medical Council of India and should have satisfactorily completed the Rotating Compulsory Internship of one year on or before 31/03/2017, registered with the Indian Medical Council and PG-NEET 2017 qualified are eligible to apply for the Post graduate Degree and Diploma courses.

About St. John’s Medical College:

St. John’s Medical College and Hospital is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka and recognized for the following post-graduate degree/diploma courses, with the approval of the Medical council of India and the Government of Karnataka.

St. John’s Medical College and Hospital and School of Nursing were started in 1963, 1975 and 1980 respectively at Bangalore by the C.B.C.I. Society for Medical Education. The School of Nursing was upgraded to the College of Nursing in 1989. In 1994 all the Institutions were brought under the common name : St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences. St. John’s Research Institute was the latest addition to the Academy in the year 2004.

Eligibility for Admission:
Candidates having qualified for the M.B.B.S Degree from any University recognized by the Medical Council of India and should have satisfactorily completed the Rotating Compulsory Internship of one year on or before 31/03/2017, registered with the Indian Medical Council and PG-NEET 2017 qualified are eligible to apply for the Post graduate Degree and Diploma courses.

A candidate can apply for ANY THREE degree courses. In specialties with both P.G. Degree and Diploma, a single application for the subject can be made. Allotment of Degree/Diploma seats will be according to the merit list.

Special consideration will be given to alumni of St. John’s Medical College who have served in medically underserved areas and underprivileged people, recognized as such by the College.

THE MAIN SELECTION PROCESS:

The selection process consists of two steps:

  • Only P.G. NEET – 2017 qualified candidates are eligible for admission and based on their All India NEET ranking/NEET score will be called for step 2.
  • Objective assessment of the clinical skills (Practical Test) and an Interview to assess the aptitude of the candidate to serve the needy in medically underserved areas and under privileged Community, an important objective of our Institution will be conducted from 20/02/2017 to 22/02/2017 at St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore.

Final selection will be based on:

  • NEET Score.
  • Practical Test score.
  • Interview Score.
  • In addition to the above, weightage will be given to the following categories of applicants:

01. Graduates, who have served medically underserved areas and underprivileged community, recognized as such by the St. John’s Medical College for a period of at least two years.
02. Roman Catholic Community members.
03. Religious sisters (Nuns).

Finally selected candidates must pay the fees within stipulated date.

Admission to various courses will be provisional and is subject to confirmation of eligibility by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS). The decision of the University with regard to Eligibility is final. The selected candidate should obtain the Eligibility Certificate personally from the University and submit it along with other certificates before paying the fees.

The duration of the various courses and syllabi will be as laid down by the RGUHS from time to time. The date of commencement of the classes will be notified as per the calendar of events of the Rajiv Gandhi University.

Any dispute regarding the admission procedure is subject to the jurisdiction of Courts in Bangalore only.

Post Graduate Degree & Diploma Courses:
The College is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka and recognized for the following post-graduate degree/diploma courses, with the approval of the Medical council of India and the Government of Karnataka.

The number of seats available in each of these courses in 2017 is indicated alongside.

How to Apply:

Candidates applying for admission to St John’s PG Courses are required to apply only through the website: http://admissions.stjohns.in. No other Means/Mode of application will be accepted.
Before final submission of the Online Application, candidates should have scanned images of their (a) Photograph & (b) Signature. These two documents will be required for uploading and submission with your Online Application.
A valid E-mail Id and Mobile Number is mandatory for submission of your Online Application. This E-Mail Id and Mobile number should be active till the declaration of interview list. St John’s Medical College will send important information with regard to your application on this registered E-Mail Id/Mobile number.
Please note that after the final submission of your application form, all particulars mentioned in the online application including Name of the Candidate, Date of Birth, Address, Email ID, etc. will be considered as final. NO further modifications will be allowed/entertained.

Note:
1.    A student who discontinues the course after admission but before the commencement of the course, will not be entitled to refund of the fees paid and deposits made to the Institution unless the seat that has fallen vacant due to the discontinuation, is filled up by another candidate. In such a case, an amount equal to 10% of the total fees payable will be deducted as service charges.
2.    If a student discontinues the course during the course period in order to join another subject elsewhere or for any other reason, he/she will have to refund the entire stipend paid by the Institution up to the time of discontinuing and further will pay the fees for the remaining period of the course to the Institution, and shall also forfeit all the deposits and other fees paid to the Institution.
3.    The students are required to pay the prescribed fees once in every six months i.e. in the months of July and January, of each academic year. There will be a total of SIX installments for Degree Course and FOUR installments for Diploma Course.
4.    All the students are instructed to make payments of the entire term fees in one installment to St. John’s Medical College Accounts section and no part payment will be accepted. The prescribed fees should be paid within one month of the commencement of each term. Late payments will attract a penalty of Rs. 50/- per day which will have to be paid along with the fee.
5.    Examination fees as prescribed by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and other fees, if any, will be notified at the time of admission or at the appropriate time.
6.    All candidates have to pay a caution deposit of Rs. 10,000/-, Library deposit of Rs. 3,000/- and laboratory deposit of Rs. 3,000/- at the time of Admission. These amounts will be refunded, after deduction of dues, if any, when the student leaves the Institution on completion of the Course.
